Design of Visual Simulation System for Space Radiation Effect Based on MCNP

Abstract: The hardness performance test of spacecrafts mainly depends on ground simulation and computer simulation. The main drawback of ground simulation is the cost and the ground environment. However, the computer simulation has some problems such as model editing difficulty and low efficiency. We design a visual simulation system of space radiation effects based on MCNP, in which MCNP is used to calculate the detector point’s radiation effects of the geometric model in the space radiation environment. The system is built by using WEB GL technology, middleware technology and cloud computing technology to realize the visualization and interaction of simulation process. Firstly, the system visualizes a geometric model on Web pages by using WEB GL technology, and users can set parameters of this model such as materials, radiation sources, detector points and so on. Then, the visualized geometric model is transformed into an input file of MCNP by the model transformation middleware. Finally, the radiation effects of the detector points in the geometric model is calculated by using the MCNP deployed on the computing nodes. Our experimental results show that the visual simulation system can effectively improve the simulation efficiency and experience of space radiation effects and has the characteristics of crossplatform, easy expansion and strong interaction.
